Right now, you have the least amount of time that you have ever had in your entire life to do all the things you’ve always wanted to do. Although it sounds depressing, it was intended to be liberating. Take it as you wish (if it happens to be the former: I advise you to make some changes in your life and take a risk. Or not. Up to you).
When you receive a tweet from Andi Peters then we can discuss how cool you really are. #Childhood #Legend
Morning all. Do yourself a favour when reading today’s papers: just sit and think critically about the information you soak in. Don’t just sponge it in as gospel because our media has a habit of promoting unnecessary divisiveness between races, classes, sexes and religions. All I ask is that you remain skeptical when hearing words like ‘terrorism’ (especially when it is repeated constantly within the article).
Sometimes I look at people and think “Of all the millions of sperm your dad has spunked away into tissues and faces over the years (no pun intended) YOU were the one whom beat millions of others in the ONE load that lead to being conceived. Of all the improbabilities in life, YOU is what we all have to live with. Life is fascinating.
It’s weird to think that if your digital pictures required you to pay for film and development before you could publish them, like the old analogue days, then the amount of random pictures we take would dramatically decrease. Instead, we’ll go through our photo albums with our grandkids: “This is the fry-up I had one Tuesday morning; This is Uncle Fred’s ear lobe; Oh, and here’s the cup of tea I made after a long day at work”. Although, they won’t be sitting on your lap, they’ll be ‘visiting’ you via a hologram.
I know Obama is cool. He has an iPod and listens to hip hop but tried not to get caught up with mainstream media. Look at facts! Romney wouldn’t have been worse nor better if he had won. They both work for the same boss. Presidential candidates (or any candidate for that matter, including Prime Ministers) are good at winning votes. Its what they do. They’ll kiss any baby or arse and tell you everything will be fine but again look at the facts: Obama is just strengthening Bush’s doctrine. The troops are still out there, unemployment is still at a ridiculous percentage in the states. I don’t know much about the politics but I can guarantee that most of these Obama lovers (and pretty much most of you guys from England writing about how you want him to win) know as little and as much as I do. If we start electing people based on their media-rapport with us rather than their actions then I think our gullible, suggestive, robotic civilzation is doomed to anyone who can wield it.
I’ve written and deleted all my statuses regarding 9/11. Its so frustrating that I can’t put into words what I want to say. I want to show my sympathy to those who had lost 11 years ago today (of course) I also wanted to show a satirical look at governments surrounding the event but I’m also…
I do not know where you live but I’ll start by saying I am a New Yorker. I’m in no way offended by what you said but I’d like to MAYBE explain. No one ever thought America, a world power with one of the biggest militaries in the world, would ever be attacked (so successfully). New York is the most populated city in the US and the WTC controlled most of our goings on. It was unthought of that they would be attacked never mind destroyed. America was disabled. No other way to describe it. You are obviously not from New York but it has never happened (before or after) that the subways and bridges were shut down, the main mode of transportation for us and our only way off the island besides the ferry which was also disabled. There are thousands of people at any given time in downtown manhattan, a small section of the already small island. The threat was heightened by such and it would have been catastrophically worse (the death toll) if it weren’t for our amazing emergency response teams.
Hey, sorry for the late reply. Haven’t been on here since I last blogged this post.
I’m not suggesting (for one second) that you guhs didn’t have it rough. It must have been horrible. Completely tore you apart. I’m just saying as an outsider who was being fed this info (I’m from England by the way) we don’t get as empathetic towards any other countries who have suffered the same horrible thing that you went through. For example, like Sandy, Cuba and Haiti were just as effected as you guys yet mainstream media showed no mention of them. Thus less charitable efforts were made to them. Its more a slant at mainstream media coverage, not whos had it worse. Thank you for commenting by the way.
I’ve written and deleted all my statuses regarding 9/11. Its so frustrating that I can’t put into words what I want to say. I want to show my sympathy to those who had lost 11 years ago today (of course) I also wanted to show a satirical look at governments surrounding the event but I’m also genuinely intrigued with the hypocrisy I’m seeing on my news feed: Why is the New York attack more favourable than the just-as-heinous attacks on innocent people elsewhere in the world that has happened since and currently. New York is still a foreign place. Is it because we feel affectionate to the city that brought us ‘Friends’ and stage blockbuster movies like Die Hard 3? Or perhaps its the celebrities we admire expressing their sympathy and anger (sometimes via music)? Or maybe because there was so much media coverage on 9/11 that people see the harsh nature of the attack therefor their knowledge and sympathy of the event are limited by what and how much they are told by media outlets. Or fuck it, maybe its because everyone else is and we want to feel ‘included’. I hope its neither of these things. But I’m fearful it might be. If the 9/11 attacks were exactly the same as they were (hundreds of people dying, members of the public frantically watching on, firefighters risking their lives etc.) but it was in Israel and had less media coverage then we wouldn’t have the same sympathy is what I’m saying. I’m not taking anything away from 9/11. It was a horrible, disgusting yet courageous and full of camaraderie but you see my point.
If you’re lacking gym-time then make up for it by wearing trendy, swagger clothing. If not, then have amazing hair. If you can’t afford or be bothered to do any of those things then meet me down the riverbank with a few cans of Special Brew. We can cry together.
